Psychodrama Techniques

Life throws many things at us and opportunities are scarce to take time to look at them from a different perspective, deal with them and move on.  I will offer a safe, supportive envionment where you will be given the opportunty to talk, express how you feel and explore your inner self, appreciate the whole of yourself, gain insight, grow, achieve changes and be able to heal yourself.

You will retain the right to say NO to any technique or stop any activity of therapy when you choose.  Psychodrama encourages the spontaneity and creativity of clients for theapeutic purpose, and fundamental to our practice, is the empowerment of the people we are working with.

J L Moreno was the founder of psychodrama in Vienna in the early 1900s, and described it as a fantastic way in which to look at ‘inter-personal relations and private worlds’ (Moreno).  He is internationally renowned for his work.  Psychodrama is a group therapy, however, can also be used on a one to one basis.

“Psychodrama has been defined as a way of practicing living
without being punished for making mistakes”
(Marcia Karp)

The action that takes place in a group is a way of looking at one’s life as it moves.  It is a way of looking at what happened and what didn’t happen in a given situation.  It all takes place in the present, even though a person may want to enact something from the past or something in the future.

Moreno defined psychodrama as ‘the science which explores the truth by dramatic methods, which can include using colours, small objects, music, play and much more.

To beneift from psychodrama you do not need to have any experience of drama, acting or any other type of therapy; together we will find creative ways to explore and work through what life throws at us.

Psychodrama techniques can be used in a variety of situations such as anxiety, depression, stress management, low self esteem, lack of  self confidence, bereavement, relationship problems, lack of direction and so on.

We will provide our confidentiality policy at our first meeting.
